When you have fibromyalgia, you hurt all over. Your purse feels like it weighs a ton. You wake up feeling like you need to get some rest. You go in for lab work to see if anything can explain why you are feeling so badly, but the tests come back normal. Sometimes, even going to the chiropractor can make you feel worse instead of better. Frustrating, isn’t it?

I have been in practice here in the Rancho Cucamonga area for more than 20 years. These days, it’s pretty clear to me what causes fibromyalgia. I am sorry if I sound severe, but I want this to get through to you: you have been poisoned. Let me explain.

My typical fibromyalgia patient (let’s call her Mrs. Smith) is a woman who takes pride in her appearance and in her home. She likes using cosmetics and body products. She has a cupboard full of household cleansers and may use candles or fragrance products to make her house smell nice. Dishwasher “power balls,” laundry soaps and dryer sheets add to the chemical cocktail surrounding Mrs. Smith twenty-four hours a day. She doesn’t like ants, so she has poison sprayed around the perimeter of her house monthly (“well, it’s only the outside of the house,” she’ll tell you). She’s never asked her gardener if the stuff he spreads on her lawn has weed killer in it, but she should. Mrs. Smith likely lives in a nice home, one where the carpet, floor varnish and paint still have that “new” smell. Even her car gets spritzed with a fragrance spray at the weekly car wash.

What happens when the body is exposed to more chemicals than it can handle? The chemicals build up in our tissues and poison our livers and kidneys, then back up into the lymph tissue between our muscles. Body work like chiropractic and massage will help mobilize the toxins toward the eliminative organs. We can use herbs to support the organs as they work through a backlog of chemicals. But above all, let’s talk and see if we can find out what’s poisoning you in the first place.
